BEIJING: China has built a bullet train that can maintain its speed in all kinds of weather conditions, running at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour in minus 40 degrees Celsius. The train, dubbed the CR400AF-G, is part of the Fuxing Train series and was unveiled on January 6. High-speed train tracks and systems have been built that will connect Beijing to the northeastern cold regions of Harbin and Shenyang, where Shenyang is world famous for its snow miles. Chinese state-owned railway company China Railway Beijing Group says it has tested the train in the coldest of environments and all of its systems are working well, most importantly its brake system, which fails in extremely icy and cold environments. Yes, now the brake system will work properly in this train which is a major achievement. Its design is less resistant to wind and environment which saves energy and fuel as the whole structure is made of aluminum fill. According to Xiao Song, head of China Railway Beijing, the braking system of the train will not be jammed in the coldest areas and he will keep moving the train slowly back and forth and thus avoid freezing. On the other hand, the entire train stop system has been modernized and fitted with lithium-ion batteries for energy, which makes the self-propulsion system possible. It is also the first system of its kind in the world. The final date for public use of this state-of-the-art bullet train has not yet been announced.
