A positive move

The PDM rally in Karachi was significant in many ways, with 11 opposition leaders attending the anti-government rally, followed by an incident that had an impact on the Pakistani political scene. ۔ However, in view of all the circumstances, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa not only took notice of the arrest of Captain (retd) Safdar from a hotel in Karachi but also formed a court of inquiry, the report of which was published yesterday. The report came as if a new round of debate had begun across the country. In the report issued by ISPR it is said that all officers of security agencies involved in the events of October 18 and 19, 2020 had been removed. Further it is said that The Court of Inquiry has established that on the night of October 18/19, officers from Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the ISI sector Headquarters Karachi were considerably seized with the fallout of the desecration of Mazar-e-Quaid. It is a positive step taken Army Chief, may be it is the first time in history that such action had been taken by army chief. It will strengthen democracy in Pakistan. Army chief has proved that he is true follower of rule of law. Nobody was accepting such a big action by armed forces so it is appreciable as well as it is new example set by the most disciplined institution of the county. This action also provokes to political parties that are they ready to take action against those who issued statements on this issue. Now all their statements had proved baseless and wrong. PTI leaders in Karachi like Ali Zadi, Fasal Vawda , Haleem Adil Sheik and others have talked about this incident without knowing the facts. Similarly some PTI’s federal ministers also given statements and blamed their opponents that they are trying to create a drama. All these things are also thought provoking. If army chief can take notice and remove officers than why a political party is not taking action against those who speak without thinking. Why these leaders put pressure on the security agencies? As in the report it is also said that there was extra pressure on the officers to take action against those who desecrated Mazar-e –Quaid. If former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif can reject this inquiry report and action taken by Army chief than how can people of Pakistan accept Safdar’s sloganeering at Mazar-e Quaid. Is Mian Nawaz Sharif and his party ready to take any action against Safdar? Nawaz’s party instead of taken action against foolish action of caption ® Safdar, they tried to get political advantages of it. Now circumstance required action from PML-N too. Other political parties should also think about their policies. Pak Army has set an example and road map for all sects in Pakistan. Now it’s time for everyone to follow it. PDM has welcomed this action taken by Army chief while Information Minister Shibli Faraz, who had termed the incident as a political gimmick by the PPP, appreciated the army chief for initiating the inquiry and implementing the recommendations. He said in his statement that “We accept what happened. Since the issue was concerning Quaid-e-Azam, they (security officials) acted emotionally which I feel they should not have. ”But the ISPR has given its decision and we welcome it. But this issue requires same kind of action even from federal Government. It seems as that Pakistan is just near to move on a new road map where institutions will take action against those officers who violate law. Certainly this will be a positive change after more than 70 years.
