Lahore (General Reporter) A seminar on dengue awareness was organized by Punjab Government, Higher Education Department and Department of Zoology Queen Mary Graduate College, in which District Health Officer Tahira Maryam and Principal Queen Mary College Dr. Samra Imran participated as special guests. On this occasion, Tahira Maryam informed the children about dengue and informed the students that dengue in Pakistan started in Karachi in 1994 and later in 2011 dengue gained strength and it spread like a wildfire. Dengue is an infection caused by a specific virus. It is spread by the bite of a specific female mosquito. This mosquito picks up this virus while sucking the blood of an infected person and transmits it to another healthy person. Along with this, he also explained the symptoms of dengue fever and preventive measures. In his speech during the seminar, Principal Queen Mary College Dr. Samra Imran said that due to the rains, water has collected everywhere due to dengue. The possibility of increasing has become alarmingly high. But now the government is taking strong measures to prevent dengue and is performing its duties well. Moving forward in this regard, he advised the students to take all precautionary measures, do not allow water to collect, Use mosquito nets and stay safe from dengue. Professor Dr. Nadia Dar, in-charge of Dengue Team of Government Queen Mary Graduate College, Lahore and a large number of students participated in the seminar.
