Lahore ( ) A seminar was organized at PMA House by Pakistan Medical Association Lahore on the occasion of World Cancer Day. Addressing the seminar, PMA President and renowned orthopedic surgeon Professor Ashraf Nizami said that cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths – a figure that equates to one in six deaths. Among all types of cancer, breast cancer in women, lung cancer, bone cancer and prostate cancer in men are leading.

Prof. Ashraf Nizami demanded from the government that having a cancer registry program in the country is the need of the hour, which will not only provide timely diagnosis of the disease but also facilitate timely treatment and accurate statistics of the disease in the country can also be obtained.
