Accident on Karachi Express, 7 bogies overturned, woman died, 40 passengers injured
Rohri: The Karachi Express derailed near Sangi railway station in Rohri, as a result of which 7 bogies overturned, killing a woman and injuring 40 passengers.
Rescue teams rushed to the spot after the accident and shifted the injured passengers to Rohri and Sukkur hospitals. According to railway officials, 30 injured have been discharged after medical aid. A help desk has also been set up for information. Trains are running on single track. IG Railways said that 5 bogies fell into the ditch in the accident. However, rescue teams took immediate action and completed the rescue operation. Searching and rehabilitation of railway track is in full swing.
Initially, the cause of the accident was said to be a broken bogie. Railway Minister Azam Swati said that the rescue operation was being monitored and efforts were being made to restore the tracks as soon as possible. A report on the accident will be received in 4 to 5 days. Strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of negligence.
