The Senate elections were the biggest upset and the government’s candidate for the Islamabad general seat, Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, was defeated by PDM’s candidate, former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. After the result, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh congratulated Yousuf Raza Gilani. Yousuf Raza Gilani got 169 votes while government candidate Hafeez Sheikh got 164 votes, the number of rejected votes is 7. Thus, Yousuf Raza Gilani had a lead of 5 votes over the government candidate.
On the other hand, according to details, 17 votes of the ruling coalition were cast. Yousuf Raza Gilani got 10 votes from the ruling coalition while PTI candidate Fauzia Arshad won the women’s seat by a margin of 13 votes. Out of the votes cast for Islamabad seats in the National Assembly, 7 votes were rejected.
The government has announced to challenge the outcome of Islamabad
Special Assistant Shahbaz Gul said that the government would challenge the result of the Senate election from Islamabad. In his tweet, he says that 7 votes have been rejected indefinitely. There is a difference of five votes. Let’s challenge this conclusion now.
In another tweet, he said that PTI’s Fauzia Arshad won by 13 votes. On the same ballot paper, people sold votes for money. Khan proved to be true. Once again, votes were sold in the election – after the video came out, it was clear that Gilani was buying votes. Have an auction of consciences instead of the next election.
