Beijing: China has offered conditional support to the Taliban for peace and reconstruction in Afghanistan.
According to China’s state news agency China News Service, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has said that if the Taliban forms a partnership government and distances itself from terrorist groups, it will help Afghanistan build and develop. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin reiterated his call for the Taliban to sever ties with terrorist groups and said he would welcome a government that includes all sections.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that China hopes that the Taliban in Afghanistan will respect the aspirations of all parties in Afghanistan and the expectations of the international community and formulate policies that are acceptable to all.
Regarding the recognition of the Taliban government, the Chinese spokesman added that the decision would be made only after the announcement of the government and it also depends on the characteristics of the government.
It is to be noted that Sher Abbas Stakzai, the head of the Taliban’s negotiating delegation in Qatar, has said that the government will be announced in the next three days in which women will also be represented.
