GC University Lahore has received a grant of 5 million euros from the German Science Foundation

Lahore (General Reporter) GC University Lahore has received a grant of 5 million euros from the German Science Foundation for the preparation and commercial production of low-cost orthopedic implants in Pakistan. The grant is for the National Center of Excellence on . Also includes funding, to be established at GCU. In the 67th meeting of the Syndicate held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Asghar Zaidi, approval was given for the establishment of the project and the center. The National Center will launch BS, MS, and PhD programs in biomaterials and tissue engineering.

The Principal Investigator of the project Dr. Engineer Atiqur Rehman will also serve as the Founding Director of the National Center. Engineer Jawad Manzoor will be the Deputy Director. The Syndicate also approved other projects worth Rs 9 billion in the meeting. 9 projects to improve student services will cost around Rs 587 million. Senator Dr. Zarqa Suhrawardy, Chairman Lahore Board Dr. Mirza Habib and industrialist Mr. Anwar Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor of Rashid Latif Khan University Prof. Dr. M. Khalid Khan and representatives of Law, Finance and Department also participated in the meeting. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Asghar Zaidi termed the 67th meeting of the Syndicate as the most successful and historic meeting in the history of GCU. Syndicate members praised the Vice-Chancellor and his team for the comprehensive preparation and briefing on the projects, saying that these historic projects will take the university to new heights.
