The word cholesterol is derived from ancient Greek (chole) meaning bile, (stereos) meaning solid and (ol) meaning alcohol. Cholesterol is made up of alcohol and fat. A human being weighs 68 kg and his body normally makes about 1 gram (1,000 mg) of cholesterol daily. And some help digest substances. Cholesterol moves in the form of tiny bundles in our blood. These bundles are called lipoproteins. Very important for health. HDL is called good cholesterol. It carries cholesterol from all parts of the body back to the liver and is expelled from the body along with the waste from the liver.
