LAHORE: The good news for PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to close its inquiry into the purchase of locomotives at exorbitant prices. The investigation team recommended closure of the inquiry and DG NAB Lahore sent the report of the team to the Chairman NAB who would give final approval to close the inquiry. According to NAB sources, Khawaja Saad and other accused were accused of buying engines of 4,000 to 4,500 horsepower at exorbitant prices. The plaintiff’s position against Saad Rafique was that Pakistan Railways did not need more than 20 locomotives. Khawaja Saad Rafique approved the purchase of excessive locomotives for the purpose of obtaining kickbacks. The inquiry revealed that the company which was awarded the contract was awarded after completing all the rules on merit. When Khawaja Saad was asked about the closure of the inquiry in the accountability court today, he expressed his ignorance and replied that he did not know the allegation nor the inquiry nor the finding, he did not know anything about the locomotive case.
