The Lahore High Court has suspended the Sessions Court’s order to register a case against national cricket team captain Babar Azam and issued notices to the concerned SHO and Hamiza Mukhtar for February 8. Justice Asjad Javed Gharal of the Lahore High Court heard the petition of Babar Azam challenging the orders of the lower court on the application for registration of the case. Haris Azmat Advocate, counsel for the captain of the national cricket team, pointed out that the Sessions Court has ordered registration of a case against Babar Azam contrary to the facts. According to the lawyer, Hamiza Mukhtar filed a baseless petition to blackmail Babar Azam. According to the lawyer, the woman had made peace with Babar Azam in 2018 and the matter was over. The lawyer said that the police also submitted a negative report on the issue of receiving threatening calls from Hamiza Mukhtar and the Sessions Court ordered to register a case against Babar Azam without any evidence. The counsel requested that the execution of the order of registration of case against Babar Azam be stopped and the proceedings of registration of case against the captain of the national cricket team be declared null and void. A further hearing on the petition will be held on February 8.
