Lahore (General Reporter) Appreciating the services of Professor Dr. Salman Ayaz, a well-known medical expert of the country, the Government of Pakistan awarded him a medal of distinction. He is currently serving as Head of Department at Services Institute of Medical Sciences under Specialized Healthcare Department (Government of Punjab). He did Post Graduation in Pulmonology after graduation from Nishtar Medical University in 1999 and got Membership (MCPS) in 2003 and Fellowship (FCPS) in 2009. He later completed his second fellowship (FCPS) in Critical Care Medicine in 2015. Got top merit twice in Punjab Public Service Commission. Professor Salman Ayaz played a special role in establishing intensive care units in various tertiary care hospitals across the province. He was the mastermind behind designing the COVID ICU Management Strategy while working at KEMU/Mayo Hospital, Lahore, which played an extremely important role in tackling the severe COVID crisis at the provincial and national levels. According to the Economist Normality Index, Pakistan has been ranked among the best performing countries in dealing with COVID-19. Prof. Salman Ayaz has also served as Director Expo Center, Lahore for Covid Setup/HDU. He is also serving as an advisor in various fields in the Department of Health, Government of Punjab
